Candles bring such a gentle light to a room, allowing us to experience the element of fire. Yet, many candles produce combustion by-products that can cause damage to both health and home.

The candles on this page are all made with natural, renewable waxes that burn clean. All have cotton wicks and no harmful additives.

I had to give this website the gold star after reading their excellent page on "Beeswax Facts." These are beekeepers making candles from their own wax. "Candle Bee Farm only uses beeswax generated here on the farm and from select domestic sources for candle making...We also utilize solar melt methods that release any possible residuals before filtering and candle pouring begins. Ah, the warm, healing energy of the sun! Solar melting the wax vaporizes impurities leaving a pure, clean product." Solar melting! Pheylonian Beeswax Candles

These beeswax candles are quite unique and truly magical. They are made by a couple--Iilah and Tawlia--who learned the family craft of candlemaking from Iilah's grandmother, a Medicine Woman and Elder of her clan. When she escaped persecution in the Ukraine and came to Canada, she brought with her the last remains of wildflower beeswax candles. Today, these candles are still made according to old traditions. "As is still practiced today by the Philoxians, it is customary to melt the remains of the old candles into the new pot of wax, showing honour and respect, at cellular levels, for all that was done by our forefathers to get us to where we are...After 50 years, we still hand prepare the [plant fiber] wick for each of our candles, as Iilah's [grandmother] did with hers...We purchase nothing less than the purest of cappings wax available. Cappings wax is the hair thin layer of beeswax the bees secret to seal the freshly made honey into each comb. This wax reflects the actual pigment of the honey being harvested, which can be seen above in the combs." These truly extraordinary candles are works of art, with drips of beeswax cascading down the sides.
